Impressive for a first animation
Graphics - 7/10 - I felt the characters and backgrounds were quite nicely drawn with a sort of "coolness" to the colour scheme, which suited the animation nicely. My biggest gripe with the graphical side of things was that when things were moving, it looked a little choppy. That could probably be ironed out with practice, so good job overall.
Content - 7/10 - It's always a sign of good storytelling (be it simple or complex) when the viewer understands exactly what is going on without a word of dialogue spoken. Great work here, however one small problem is that the animation loops itself without playing the music, so you might want to add a stop command on the final frame.
Sound - 7/10 - Already mentioned there not being dialogue, however in this case it wasn't really needed. The music was appropriate, not much else to say.
Overall - 7/10 - For a first attempt at an animation this was most impressive. You definitely deserve a good grade for this :P Good luck with improving your animations skills, and I hope to see more work from you in the future.
Thank you I had such a short period of time to make this and I change my project four times then found myself with to little time to really do some grand story line and try to lip sink everything (something I have never done before)
working in illustrator I find myself making characters that make tweening challenging and tweening becomes impossible with some so I end up having to recreate the character entirely for the next frame
I did a wolf animation before this but it was only a walk cycle not really a full animation
It's been a while coming...
... and I'm delighted to see that after a long wait, it didn't disappoint.
Graphics - 9/10 - Graphically this flash was excellent, it both stayed true to the Dick Neck comic page you originally created, but at the same time it was improved upon much, much more. The animation was perfectly smooth, so no complaints there. I was a little disappointed at the lack of colour in some parts, particularly with regard to the characters in the school scene, but it was nonetheless excellent.
Content - 10/10 - What can I say? The humour was fantastic, I laughed hard on several occasions throughout, it really captures the essence of what the whole Dick Neck debacle was about (other than a guy with a massive neck). The post-credits scene was quite interesting as well, is a sequel in the works?
Sound - 10/10 - Audio was very well implemented, I felt that the voice acting on the whole, particularly the narration, was excellent, and the music was very appropriate when used (during the blowjob scene I couldn't control my laughter).
Overall - 10/10 - I know a lot of work went into this, and it really does show. Biased as I may be having been "there" when it all happened, I loved this flash, 10/10, 5/5, and added to favourites. Great work.
First incredibly helpful review it's received!
Graphics- In regards to the black & white color scheme in the flashback, I did that to contrast with present time vs. the past. Although, admittedly, it could've worked just as well with colors all throughout, it's just a preference. In comics that I drew, even in a young age, I neglected to use color...again, I admit, it's a bad habit I need to break, unless the mood sets for it.
Content- Yes, but not immediately...in between "Origins" and (Sequel) I'm going to try to diversify my work a little bit more.
Sound- Hey, it worked! :D
Overall- Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU.
I really appreciate the detailed review; You Rock, Rohan!
One of your very best!
Long wait for the flash to load, this was one of my favourite flashes that you guys have done.
Graphics - 9/10 - Overall the video was pretty well done graphically, I did have one or two minor gripes. Firstly, at times it was a bit too dark to see clearly what was going on, although for atmospheric effect I can understand this to a degree. Secondly the video quality wasn't fantastic, but I do know that when converting from video to flash you lose a lot of that, so I won't hold it against you.
Content - 10/10 - I laughed my ass off on occasion, this was one of your funniest pieces. Particular highlights were the "lack of pattern" on the map, the "hand-guns" and the scolding you got from his brother. Good stuff all round.
Sound - 10/10 - In terms of audio I felt that this was one of, if not the best you have done together. The narrative was clear and excellently done, and the music was well implemented.
Overall - 10/10 - Fantastic job overall, keep at it.
Thanks a lot!
We might be getting a new camera sometime this summer. If we do the lighting and quality will be much better than what you've seen so far.
I'm happy it made you laugh.
This game was quite fun, albeit a little unoriginal.
Graphics - 8/10 - Graphics were fine for their purpose, some of the enemies looked really good, in particular the undead cows.
Gameplay - 7/10 - The idea has been done numerous times before, and tends to become repetitive, however it was still well implemented. While it was refreshing that the game didn't have a ridiculous difficulty curve, it was perhaps a bit too easy to complete. The controls were a bit fiddly but not overly so.
Sound - 7/10 - The sound effects en masse were great, however the lack of atmospheric music in the background was disappointing.
Overall - 7/10 - A fun game, and a decent time-waster, but the repetitiveness did let it down.
I enjoyed the hell out of this, good job!
Graphics - 10/10 - I loved the artwork in this game, it is obviously is very influenced by Metal Slug, but that is one of the reasons I enjoyed it as much as I did. It was simple yet very effective.
Gameplay - 8/10 - The game is both fun and challenging, and I enjoyed every minute of it. It was both engaging and entertaining, without being overly easy, even on lower difficulty levels. I do have two small complaints however. Firstly, while there were a good number of varying enemies, I felt more could have been included. At later stages it felt like the game was being made harder by throwing more and more of the same baddies at you, rather than introducing new, more powerful ones. My second complaint is that the first Mech Suit is in my view actually more effective than the other one. The Mech Suit has a high rate of fire, so it seemed to kill much faster. The NEO-Mech Suit was more powerful, but the laser took ages to charge, so it wasn't nearly as effective as the railgun. Otherwise, good stuff.
Sound - 9/10 - Sound was fine, and the music was apt. I was a little disappointed that it became stale after a while, and in my view the sound seemed to get more recycled as the game progressed. However, this was only a minor flaw.
Overall - 9/10 - A fun game that challenges you without being overly unfair on the player. Barring some minor flaws it is a great piece of work that is both involving and enjoyable. I hope to see more of the same from you in the future.
You've created the most fun, challenging, engaging and overall best game on this site. Unbelieveable, truly amazing. As a big Mastermind fan, I fell in love with this almost instantly.
Graphics - 9/10 - Visually, this was stunning; it served its purpose perfectly while at the same time remained faithful to the Mastermind theme. My only complaints are to do with the mini-cutscenes upon completing a mission. They were a bit recycled, and I was disappointed that their mouths didn't move as they spoke. Other than that minor flaw, nothing else I can pick out as a fault in the amazing artwork.
Gameplay - 10/10 - It takes a while to get the feel of this, but as soon as you grasp the concept, it proves to be one of the most rewarding gaming experiences on this site. The depth of gameplay is amazing, and it manages to be a challenge without being needlessly difficult, which is no easy task to pull off. I also enjoyed the little bit at the end after you complete the final mission ("Where are my cheesy snacks" typical Mastermind humour).
Sound - 10/10 - No complaints here. Music when used was good, sound effects were well-implemented, and hearing "Hail Mastermind" every time I scrolled over a minion was a nice touch.
Overall - 10/10 - I could talk forever about this game, such is its depth, however with only 2,500 characters or so left I'll simply say this: thank you. This game has given me a great deal of enjoyment. It's addictive, challenging, and most importantly of all, it's a hell of a lot of fun!
The tune itself was very...em...the emotions it conveyed were...oh hell, it had cowbell so it's awesome!
Seriously though, I liked the mix of electronic music with heavy-metal vocals, which is odd seeing as I ususally dislike that sort of thing. I guess the cowbell makes all the difference :P
Cowbell is the magic glue!
It's terrible, crap, 0/10!
Just kidding man :P I've been looking forward to this for ages, ever since you sent me that preview of the intro a month or so ago, and you fucking delivered, it's amazing, thnak you so much for doing this. I usually don't like progressive too much, but this was incredible. I loved all of it, but 01:27-01:43 in particular blew my fucking mind.
Keep fucking rocking! \m/ (>.<) \m/
Ha, I'm glad you liked it. That was the point ^^. Yeah that part sounds good. Well, I had fun making it and you like it ... All goes well :).
Thanks for the review dude!
This is fantastic!
The combination of the arpeggio with the heavier stuff worked really well in my opinion, I really liked this song, one of my new favourites from you. I reckon there's some Pantera influence in there also, as from 1:00-1:10 instantly reminded me of "Walk". Awesome song dude!
Thanks a lot dude, it's always great to hear from you ! Yeah Pantera is one of my favourite band, pure bad ass. Cheers for the review !
Nice, I remember this...
Towards the end of the Dickneck saga, this was probably the only picture that made me laugh. It is excellently drawn, the colour scheme is very appropriate, and I feel you captured the "essence" of Dickneck very well indeed. Great work.
Also, this is a bit off the point, I'd check the ED page again, seems like someone updated the gallery recently.
